Guru Jojo, also known as Johanna Hinds, is a musical artist inspired by Hip-hop culture. Growing up in the suburbs of New Jersey, she listened to a variety of music genres and also played the flute in band. You may find it difficult to limit her sound into a single genre, as she is inspired by many opposing themes. Growing up, her parents were both strict yet comical and her religious upbringing was Catholic. She was involved in many recreational sports, such as Competitive Cheerleading and Basketball. Unfortunately, creative passions were not much tended to or acknowledged as being professional.
Johanna studied Psychology at Rutgers University and graduated in 2016. She later began to learn astrology, tarot and other metaphysical and spiritual subjects. She used all her studies to help learn more about herself and to help heal others through conversation and inspire them. Johanna transformed into Guru Jojo in 2018, when she began making her own music. She took a brief break from music to learn more about music production and engineering. Instead of being a therapist, she decided to create music that challenges the psyche.
