The Different Ego Types

An Inner Stance of The Ego

We are all giving the gift of being able to experience physical reality. This physical experience gives us the opportunity to support and maintain our egotistical needs. In a sense, the purpose of life experience is to constantly sustain, preserve and destroy the ego.

There are 3 main types of ego:

  1. Beauty/Luxury - control of beauty

  2. Wisdom/Knowledge - control of self importance and commitment to ideals

  3. Spiritual/Creative Thinking - quiet achieving and influencing

There are 3 main structures for an egos growth:

  1. Intrinsic motivation

  2. Extrinsic motivation

  3. Entitled motivation

Those who have mostly an intrinsically motivated ego are more difficult to break down. There may not be much of a community that supports their ego, so their successes are strictly built from their own sense of intrinsic value. Those who have an ego mostly based on community support are much easier to break down. Once the community stops supporting them, they no longer have anything to fuel their energy. With that being said, it should not be assumed that those which have a more intrinsically motivated ego are any better or worse than those who have an extrinsically motivated one, or an entitled one.

It’s actually far more difficult to sustain an intrinsically motivated ego, regardless of its type. The motivation strictly comes from one’s own imagination, but must be balanced with responsibility. But this is difficult to maintain without a bunch of people constantly stroking the ego. People have no choice but to be inspired because there is not a huge community of individuals feeding it. So, it appears as though the person is strictly inspired by divine forces, hidden admirers, or both. Most of the time, the person is highly psychic and an empath to be able to pick up on these hidden forces.

The extrinsically motivated ego is in constant need of a large audience, community and validation. There could be a lot of people that dislike them, but that is often a lesser concern because the community will fight their battles for them. This actually keeps the ego very strong, because the ego is now being supported and nurtured by the attention received from others. Regardless, if it’s hate or love, the person is fueled by the attention. Deep down, they are constantly stepping on egg shells, because they know that once the community breaks down, they will no longer have much willpower.

A more mundane representation of an extrinsically motivated ego would be a traditional job or career. You may have the willpower to get up everyday and work a particular job because your time is being validated by a scheduled paycheck.

The entitled ego has found a way to be overly confident within some sort of insecurity, or imbalance. It stems from the need to feel secure in something less accepted by the general public. If the person is innovative, they can transform the way people think. It can create an overly obnoxious individual, if the ego is not being expressed in a responsible manner. Regardless, the support is being facilitated by the person’s own sense of entitlement. Insecurities are overly expressed, rather than hidden. Often times, the ego may be supported by a facade, unconventional beauty, or intellectual control through wisdom or knowledge.
